Hollywood is located between Fort Lauderdale and Miami within Broward county. It encompasses about 6 miles of beautiful Atlantic white sand beachfront. For about 2 of those miles and running adjacent to the beach is one of America's finest heritage beach boardwalks, The Hollywood boardwalk. This pedestrian only pathway offers great recreational opportunities for joggers, cyclists, roller-bladers and walkers alike. There are countless quaint restaurants and cafes offering a wide array of food from pizza and seafood to burgers and Greek food. The boardwalk starts at The Hollywood Boulevard exit and hugs the beach up to the Dania Beach ocean pier, where one can try their ocean angling skills should they so chose.
To the south of the boardwalk are many large condo and first rate hotel developments catering to the jet set and or those traveling along the inner-coastal waterway in their luxury sport cruisers.
Downtown Hollywood continues the tradition of quaintness with a wide array of international restaurants and bohemian style shops.
This is also the port where many may embark on their Caribbean or cross ocean cruises.
A ferry cruise along the Inner-coastal waterway in either direction of Fort Lauderdale or Miami is well worth the two hour excursion as one can view the living styles of the rich and famous as there million dollar mansions grace this waterway system. Thus the many canals that crisscross through Hollywood gives it the nickname "The Venice of America".
Alas, no trip to Hollywood would be complete without shopping. There are countless of shopping options from big box stores, boutiques and when combined with the behemoth and luxurious Aventura shopping mall, the shopping possibilities are endless.
